1. Our Approach to Accessibility and Technical Compliance

We have engineered our digital platforms to be “accessible by design”. We strictly conform to internationally and nationally recognised standards for digital accessibility, ensuring strict adherence to the following mandatory regulatory guidelines:

i) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 (Level AA compliance).

ii) Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW).

iii) BIS IS 17802 (Part I & II): Indian Standards on Accessibility Requirements for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Products and Services.

iv) Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act) and its corresponding rules.

2. Core Accessibility Features & Backend Architecture

To guarantee an accessible experience regardless of the individual’s abilities or the assistive technologies they use, our website architecture fundamentally incorporates:

i) Semantic Structure & Keyboard Navigation: Hardcoded backend architecture utilising semantic HTML (structured headings H1 to H3), ARIA roles, and valid form labels to ensure smooth, full-site navigation using only a keyboard or screen readers.

ii) Visual Accessibility: A guaranteed minimum colour contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for standard text, and ensuring all text is zoomable up to 200% without loss of layout or functionality.

iii) Document & Media Accessibility: All investor documents, notices, and circulars available for download are formatted strictly as accessible “Tagged PDFs” ensuring logical reading order and alternative text. Any multimedia content comprises closed captioning, descriptive audio, and Indian Sign Language (ISL) interpretations where applicable.

3. Assistive Overlay Toolbar

To supplement our core structural accessibility, https://socialbusiness.fund also utilises the OneTap accessibility toolbar interface. This allows users to actively customise their browsing experience via specific profiles (e.g., Vision Impaired Mode, Blindness Mode, Seizure Safe Profile). Features include:

In accordance with the “Investors’ Right to have digital accessibility” outlined in the SEBI Investor Charter, investors facing unresolved accessibility-related issues on our digital platforms can lodge a formal complaint against the Regulated Entity on the SEBI SCORES portal under the dedicated “Accessibility” complaint category. CURRENT STATUS OF YSB INDIA

Yunus Social Business in India operates through two entities:

⁠Yunus Social Business Fund Bengaluru Pvt Ltd (YSBFB): An RBI-regulated NBFC established in 2017, YSBFB provides debt funding to Indian social businesses. To date, it has disbursed ₹67 Cr to ~30 enterprises across sectors like waste, agriculture, education, and livelihoods. YSBFB also promoted Zero Poverty Funds, an AIF dedicated to invest in WASH and waste-related businesses.
Yunus Social Business India Initiatives LLP: Founded in 2016 to support corporate social innovation and CSR consulting, notably through its main programme, Indian Corporate Action Tank, seed-funded by one of India’s most respected domestic foundations. It has worked with leading Indian companies designing social business solutions at the intersection of corporate India’s core capabilities and social issues. The entity has been dormant for over two years due to strategic and personnel changes and is being wound up. Both entities are Indian-registered, Indian-staffed, and fully compliant with Indian law, created to support enterprises addressing poverty and social issues in India.

FOUNDING PRINCIPLES:

The two entities were founded on the philosophy of “social business”—using business tools to solve social problems such as poverty, waste, livelihoods and other issues. This approach draws inspiration from Muhammad Yunus, globally acclaimed for his pioneering work in microfinance and poverty alleviation. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize (2006) and the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2009) by US President Barack Obama, and has deeply influenced India’s microfinance sector, inspiring the creation of many of India’s leading MFIs and Small Finance banks. In India, he has been honored widely, including receiving a gold medal from PM Narendra Modi at the 102nd Indian Science Congress for “giving the poorest a life of hope, opportunity and dignity”

RESPONSE TO EVOLVING POLITICAL CONTEXT:

Since August 2024, Muhammad Yunus has taken on a new role as a political advisor in Bangladesh. This changes things for us. We are non-political organizations focused on India, and we strongly condemn & disagree with any anti-India comments made by anyone. When we first started, we used “Yunus” in our names to show respect for Muhammad Yunus’s ideas about social business.
